Jane’s seminary was the Episcopal Divinity School in Cambridge, Mass. Her mentors were Carter Heyward and Suzanne Hiatt, two of the “Philadelphia Eleven,” the first women ordained to the priesthood in this country, July 29, 1974. Their ethics and theology continue to guide her daily. Her own ordination was on September 24, 1983.
She is an R.N. and Certified Hospice and Palliative Nurse, working at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack, N.H. After many years working at teaching hospitals in Boston and Baltimore, she has loved caring for the dying and their families in the hospice setting for about 16 years.
Jane has a ministry with animals—and those who love them—doing funerals, memorial services, and burials for pets. When she first moved to New Hampshire, she was a Veterinary Technician for two years, until working at two professions for many hours each week became too much.
She enjoys camping, photography, traveling, and singing. Her husband Allan Knight and she sing in the Manchester Choral Society, Grace Church Manchester choir, and will go on tour to Portugal in August to sing in various venues there.
Jane is a devotee of Katharine Hepburn and owns at least 25 of her movies, in addition to many books and memorabilia acquired at the auction of her personal possessions at Sotheby’s in New York.
